I made this piece after being invited to take part in a curated exhibition celebrating Canada 150th birthday. The exhibit was 50 different artists responding to one of Jane Urquarts stories from her book ’50 Canadian Things’ my story was tent.

I associate tents with travelling so I embroidered a map of Canada trying to capture the texture and colour of each province. I made paper flags for people to write a memory and leave in the map.  I also added coloured pins with a mood legend so people could leave a mood in the map.

I had approximately 130 memories and about 200 moods left in the map at the end of the exhibit.
